Who is Strebor? Strebor (Roberts backwards) is made up of two sisters, Joanna and Fiona Roberts, who are originally from Darwin, Northern Territory. Joanna has moved back north to raise her two kidlets and Fiona now calls Adelaide home.

What is so important about Darwin? If you are lucky enough to visit Darwin you will find a whole lot of people who just naturally break the mould. A small town doesn’t mean small ideas!

Though Darwin is a small town its closest neighbours are in Asia. As a result, the vibrancy and diversity of cultures along with the tropical, laid back Top End lifestyle, has an everlasting influence on those who grow up there.

Fiona Roberts (Strebor Clothing) is a professional artist and art educator with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) and Masters in Teaching (Adelaide). Joanna Roberts (Strebor Kidlet) is a professional designer and artist with a Bachelor of Fashion Design from RMIT, (Melbourne) and Associate Degree in Visual Art (Adelaide). Both sisters have extensive experience across a range of creative disciplines and industries, ranging from contributing to art and design books, various international and national art exhibitions as well as prizewinning millinery. Now they have added a fashion label to the list!

Strebor Clothing was founded by Fiona Roberts in response to the demand for ethically made, limited release, original, quirky and colourful fashion. Not only that, as an educator she really wanted fun fashion that was also practical - all the dresses have pockets and a 4cm extendable hem! These designs are timeless, and most importantly are flattering and comfortable for a range of real-world, real-sized, women.

In what her family and friends would describe as ‘ in typical Fiona fashion’, she ignored the advice to start with the ‘normal’ size range, 8-16, for her first launch. She was passionate about starting out the way she intend to continue and she has now released her first clothing range, offering sizes 8-20. As a future-focused  educator she also felt it was necessary to ensure that all garments are ethically made. She is committed to making the brand as sustainable as possible by focusing on minimising fabric waste and choosing more eco-friendly packaging.

Joanna Roberts, a self-confessed colour aficionado and mother of two, is the brains behind Strebor Kidlet. Joanna brings to the brand her unique sense of design, her passion for colour, and a deep understanding of what mothers and their bubs both want and need. Joanna Roberts has always had a long-term fascination with colour and has a particular love for bugs, beetles and flowers. She is well-known for her large installations of colourful laser cut, larger than life layered acrylic insects combined with tropical flora. In these mini ecological worlds, viewers find themselves immersed in the natural splendour of the micro world.

For this range Joanna has cut and layered coloured paper to create intricate and detailed patterns featuring flora and fauna. These lovely soft textiles will comfort and delight any child and charm the adults. Tried and tested on her own kids, the first release of swaddles BASK, BLOOM and NEST, have well and truly passed with flying colours!
